Meditation has been used for thousands of years as a daily practice to balance the mind and body. Many forms of medication have developed out of this long and successful history. Dean practices and teaches Mindfulness Meditation and often uses this method of healing with clients as a fantastic way to maintain and promote health and wellbeing. Recently Mindfulness Meditation has receive much attention by researchers, which has highlighted the many benefits of such a practice, these include:
- stability of mind
- flexibility of awareness
- increased self awareness
- being less reactive to internal and external events
- balancing certain bodily systems
- increased relaxation
Dean also practices a powerful form of internal kung fu, Pa Kua (Ba Gua), which involves walking meditation, exercises to build and project chi (energy), increasing body awareness and physical exercise (with martial applications). He sometimes incorporates aspects of this art with his work with people.
